The teacher is an occupation with high emotional workload.Teachers' emotional intelligence affects the teaching effect directly.There are few studies on the teachers' emotional intelligence from secondary vocational school in China.The purposes of this study are to understand the basic situation of English teachers' emotional intelligence in secondary vocational schools from Guangdong,to know whether English teachers' emotional intelligence has an impact on the use of classroom teaching strategies,and to comprehend how teachers' emotional intelligence influences the use of classroom teaching strategies.At the end of this study,some suggestions on improving teachers' emotional intelligence to promote the use of classroom teaching strategies are propounded.The study distributed questionnaires to investigate 186 English teachers' emotional intelligence in secondary vocational schools from Guangdong.Got to know the overall situation of this 186 English teachers' emotional intelligence and the impact on the use of their classroom teaching strategies.After that,the study chose 1 expert teacher and 1 fresh teacher to do typical case study.The result of questionnaires survey shows that,there are significant different levels among English teachers' emotional intelligence in secondary vocational school.To identify and manage students' emotions are much more different among six dimensions of emotional intelligence(emotional recognition,own emotional expression,emotion control,identify students' emotions,empathy and manage students' emotions).The teachers who answered the questionnaires were divided into low degree,middle degree and high degree.Compare with the four dimensions of classroom teaching strategies(management strategies,motivation strategies,teaching methods and instructional strategies),the study found that teachers' emotional intelligence on the impact of the use of classroom teaching strategies is directly proportional.In another word,the higher emotional intelligence the teacher has,the better use of classroom teaching strategies he/she can.The result of case studies showed that the emotional intelligence of expert teacher was higher than that of fresh teacher.By comparing the use of classroom teaching strategies,it was found that the use of classroom teaching strategies with high emotional intelligence was more flexible,which can better identify students' emotions and manage students,so as to achieve better teaching results.The ability of fresh teacher to identify and manage students' emotion was weak.The results of this study indicate that teachers' emotional intelligence has a great impact on the use of classroom teaching strategies in secondary vocational school.Schools and teachers should attach importance to the cultivation of teachers' emotional intelligence,in order to improve the effectiveness of classroom teaching strategies.
