A Practice Report On Translation Of Informal Essays

This paper is an English-Chinese translation practice report.The original texts are informal essays,and the ten articles selected by the author are excellent English short essays,which are characterized by times,topic and philosophy.The practice report focuses on summarizing the problems encountered in the translation process and how to solve these problems with Tytler's three principles of translation.This report firstly analyzes the selected original texts.Informal essay is a kind of short,free and flexible text,which can be lyrical,narrative,recording,or moral-philosophical.Its form and content are flexible,diverse,and eclectic.Through the study and analysis of the Chinese translation of a large number of essays,the author finds that the translation strategies under the guidance of Tytler's three principles of translation can help to solve the translation problems of such texts.Based on the review of the whole process of translation,the author summarizes the translation problems involved in vocabulary,syntax,discourse and so on.Combining Tytler's three principles of translation,the author gives some examples to show how to use the appropriate translation strategies to solve these problems.By writing this report,on one hand,the author hopes that it can be helpful on consolidating professional knowledge and improving translation ability.On the other hand,the author hopes that some valuable references could be provided for other scholars.
