The Rise And Fall Of The Four Families In Wu County In Six Dynasties

The scholar-official families of Six Dynasties were extremely special groups.Most of them had multiple identities of political,economic,cultural,and social organizations.They had long been active in all corners of the historical stage and had played an important role in it.Gu,Lu,Zhu,and Zhang were the representatives of the Jiangdong scholar-official families,and their presence in the Six Dynasties can still be traced.It is a force that cannot be ignored in the history.Whether it is in the regimes or between the villages,the Four families of Wu County were involved,and their families had survived for a long time.In the background of the ever-changing political and cultural situation,the destinies of the Four families of Wu County in different stages of the Six Dynasties were different.The reason is that there are both external environmental interventions and influence of their own choices.In this paper,through the investigation of the vertical evolution of the Four families of Wu County in the Six Dynasties and the comparison of horizontal differences,the track of the ups and downs of the Four families in Wu County is shown.On this basis,this paper combines the changes in politics and culture to further explore the factors that affect Gu,Lu,Zhu,Zhang’s ups and downs.Specifically,except for the introduction and conclusion,the full text has three parts.The first chapter defines the "Wu County" and the "Four families" from the scope of meaning and reference.It traces the tradition of calling the "Four families" from the Han and Wei dynasties,and sorts out the family origins of Gu,Lu,Zhu and Zhang respectively.The second chapter is based on political achievements.It examines the process of the rise,decline and sinking of the Four families in Wu County in different time intervals.At the same time,it distinguishes the ordering of the Four families.The third chapter focuses on the perspective of imperial politics and cultural atmosphere,explaining why the Four families had this ups and downs and the evolution of the ranking.All in all,this paper explores the meaning and extension of the "Four families in Wu County" and clarifies the origins of the Four families.It reveals the evolution of Gu,Lu,Zhu,and Zhang during the Six Dynasties period,and tries to use gradually changes on imperial politics and culture to interpret this transformation process.
