Comprehensive Discussion About Zu Of Chu Lacquer Wood

Zu was a commonly used instrument in ancient China,both ritual and furniture functions,to the Spring and Autumn Period(770 BC-221 BC),whether the ritual with zu or as furniture zu,in their own shape,decoration has formed a certain standard,especially the chu zu,but also added to the regional characteristics of chu.Judging from the archaeological excavations in recent years,more than 5,000 Chu tombs have been excavated so far,of which more than a thousand have lacquer wares and more than 30 unearthed caskets,mainly distributed in Hubei,Hunan,Henan and Anhui provinces.Among them,the Chu departments were the most unearthed in the first three provinces.Chu’s tomb unearthed in the chu system zu copper,wood,pottery,mainly to paint wood,the number of more than 200 pieces.This paper attempts to synthesize the existing research results,from the microscopic angle of the number of zu unearthed in chu tomb,the shape of zu and the decoration of zu,this paper analyzes the zu of chu system,and probes into the thoughts and concepts of chu people.Using the records of the literature and the unearthed bamboo slips,the author analyzes the system of the use of cu in chu system to study the ritual culture used by the chu lacquer wood as sacrificial vessel.In addition to the introduction of the relevant content of lacquer wood zu,the first part of the development sequence of the zu,through the current physical materials can be tested,demonstrated from the original early wood zu to the shang and zhou period zu basic stereotypes,and then gradually withdraw from the development process.The second part,mainly is to the chu tomb unearthed lacquer wood zu to carry on the classification research.Mainly involves the excavation survey,the shape classification,the combination classification and the decoration classification.Starting from the materials unearthed from archaeology,the zu of lacquer wood unearthed from the chu tomb is divided into the times,according to the zu’s panel style,the number and shape of the foot,carrying out the research of the shapes,classifying by the combination of lacquer and wood,and summarizing according to the pattern of decoration.The third part,the research on the related problems of lacquer wood zu.Based on the historical documents and unearthed documents,this paper discusses the zu of utensils,and analyzes the use system of zu through the combination of the number of unearthed zu,different shapes and sacrificial vessels in chu tombs,and then analyzes the aesthetic concept and consciousness of chu people reflected in these decorations through the classification of decorations.
