This article is based on the questionnaire method and interviewing method.The self-made questionnaire includes four strategies:cognitive strategy,metacognitive strategy,affective strategy and communicative strategy.The data analysis based on SPSS 17.0.The questionnaire tries to find out overall characteristic of using these four strategies and the possible reasons for the uses differences in these strategies.At last,it gives some effective suggestions to make progress in English writing based on classroom observation and interviews of some of the students and teachers.Junior students,who have learned English for one year in their high school career,must make preparations for the next year,so trying to study of the learning strategy of English writing really counts,which can be the direction for their senior year.The author did the research in the area of Tujia nationality in Yongshun,Xiangxi autonomous prefecture,which can't keep pace with the developed areas in many ways,such as economy,resource,and education and so on.Of course,the students here have trouble in English writing.The former researchers studied the relationship between learning strategies and grads,and said using strategies can improve writing skills.So this article will try to through light on the English writing of the Tujia junior students by studying the current situation of their English writing strategies.With the advice,I expect they can be more confident when facing English writing tasks and can achieve high grades.In the research the author found that Tujia junior students use cognitive strategy less than the other three strategies,with the metacognitive strategy mostly used.In the metacogniti ve strategy,Tujia junior students can make correct evaluation of their writing and can't correct all their writing mistakes by themselves to make the compositions more fluent.What's more,they try to make plans to help themselves to achieve some specific goals in English writing,but they can't monitor this process.MWhen it comes to the cognitive strategy,Tujia junior students tend to copy the model essay and try to put the phrases and sentences into practice.However,they scarcely do self-directed learning to improve their English Writing.As for the affective strategy,these students also don't have confidence in English writing because they always fell anxious when facing writing tasks.In the communicative strategy,they seldom ask teachers for help and can't always avoid Chinglish.In the end,the author tries to find out the reasons for the results and also give some proposals to improve the current situation.In the study,the author found that the personality of the students and the teachers can affect the uses and grasp of the strategies by the Tujia junior students.The introverting ones prefer to use cognitive strategy,while using of the strategies of the outgoing ones tends to be diversified.The teachers,according to the survey,lack of theoretical knowledge,so they can't let the students obtain the learning strategies effectively.What's more,the teachers seldom train their students in English writing,which also affect the acquisition of the learning strategies.Suggestions are as follows:The students must build confidence,take a correct attitude and try their subjective initiative into play.What's more,they should avoid shyness and keep in close touch with teachers and classmates.The teachers should give their students some effective guidance and training particularly as well as learn learning strategies by themselves,which can enhance students'uses of the learning strategies of English writing.
