English discipline is an important basic discipline in elementary education,but for a long time,English teaching has been guided by its instrumental value,focusing on the teaching of English language knowledge and the cultivation of language skills,ignoring its educational values.Actually,as a language subject,English has strong humanities and practicality,and rich educational connotation in thinking and culture.This paper tries to explore the educational values of the English discipline in middle school,examine the current English classroom teaching from the perspective of subject education,and put forward the teaching strategy to realize the educational values of English subject according to the main problems in the process of the English subject education.The full text is divided into three parts besides the introduction.The first part is an overview of the educational values of the English subject in middle school.First,clarify the concepts and connotation of the educational values of English subject.Second,through the text analysis of the high school English curriculum standards and the English textbooks,try to sum up the rich educational values of the English discipline,including cognitive value,moral value and aesthetic value.Last,analyze the relationship between the educational values of English subject and the core competence of English.The second part is the review of the status quo of the English educational values in middle school.This section uses the methods of classroom observation and questionnaire survey to study,develops the English classroom teaching observation record table and formulates the student questionnaires based on the educational values of the English discipline,analyzes the classroom teaching goals,teachers' classroom teaching behaviors,students' questionnaires,and accumulates successful experience in the realization of the educational values of the English discipline.Analyze the main problems and causes of the process of the English classroom education.The third part is the teaching complementation strategy of English discipline educational values in middle school.According to the current major problems in the process of cultivating people in English,this section puts forward the teaching complementation strategy of the English educational values.Including establish learning-centered classroom and promote students' initiative development;enhance English learning motivation and stimulate students' learning;emphasize the active construction of knowledge and encourage students to discover learning;create a real context and strengthen the cultural experience in classroom interaction.
