This study explores the present language education policy in Mongolia,one of China's neighboring countries.The following research questions are proposed: What is the status quo of Mongolia's language education policy? What is the relation between the policies of native language and foreign language education in Mongolia? and What are the causes of this relation?The researcher has adopted the research approach of historical-structural analysis,through the methods of qualitative text analysis and quantitative text analysis,to process the data.In the research,we find that the policies of native language education and foreign language education in present Mongolia can be regarded as remediation for aggressive practice in the past,and the they are multi-dimensionally complimentary despite the sporadic confrontations.The Mongolian government are noticing the nation's crisis of existence and development,the internal factors(including national security and public diplomacy)of which,along with the policies in the past etc.,have exhibited urgent need in adjustment of language policy and language education policy.In this research,the development and status quo of Mongolia's native language education policy and foreign language education policy are systematically analyzed,the manner of complementation of the two is clarified.This research has also comprehensively presented factors that are influencing this relation as well as the mechanism of policy making,which has enriched the current theories of language policy.The findings in this research can serve as a reference for the Chinese government both in dealing with diplomatic affairs concerning Mongolia and in providing aids to countries in similar situation.It can also be referred to when language education policy is made in countries that share similar historical and social context.
