Anxiety is one of significant affective factors which have great effects on foreign language learning.It's inevitable for students to make some errors in English classroom learning.The influence of different ways of corrective feedback on students' anxiety varies from each other.Therefore,it's imperative to utilize proper corrective feedback in order to promote the effect of English classroom learning.Research subjects in this study are two common classes in Dajing High School Affiliated to Shanghai International Studies University,with 63 students and 2 English teachers in total.Adopting quantitative and qualitative research methods,it investigates the status quo of students' classroom anxiety and the influence of corrective feedback on their anxiety from perspectives of different contents,time,subjects and methods of correction,and further tries to delve into reasons for that.In this way,it strives to offer strategies of corrective feedback to relieve students' anxiety and further improve actual teaching and learning effect in English class.In this study,three important conclusions have been drawn.Firstly,high school students suffer from varying degrees of anxiety in English class.Secondly,explicit content,no interruption,teacher or self correction,repetition of errors,recast and elicitation are beneficial to reducing anxiety.Thirdly,teachers and students hold different views on the influence of corrective feedback on English classroom anxiety.At last,the author puts forward some teaching suggestions to relieve students' anxiety and optimize effect of error correction.Firstly,teachers should attach more importance to students' anxiety in English class and create a relaxing classroom atmosphere.Secondly,teachers are suggested to enrich knowledge about corrective feedback and put it into practice.Thirdly,teachers should change their roles and beliefs.It's advisable to guide students to establish self-confidence.Encouraging them to reflect on themselves is also recommended.What's more,the author concludes shortcomings of this study and looks forward to prospects in future research.
