Analysis Of The Chinese Musicologist Luo Qin’s Study On Music Historiography

As a modern and contemporary Chinese musicologist,Luo Qin has abundant research achievements and unique research features in the field of musicology.His study of musicology includes various academic fields such as ancient Chinese music history,Chinese modern and contemporary music history,Ethnomusicology,and World folk music.With novel and profound academic position,academic paradigm and research pattern,he not only has broad influence on the academic music field of China,but also plays an important role in promoting the establishment of "Chinese discourse" in the world music field.Among the various directions of his study of musicology,music historiography is one of the earliest and the most accomplished academic research fields in which Luo Qin set foot.Guided by his unique academic purport,based on his life experience and academic structure,he has reached beyond ancient and modern,as well as combined both Chinese and Western musicology.He has commit himself to exploring the Chinese music historiography with the perspective of "new historiography".He leads academic teams to establish several academic bases and execute multiple academic publishing projects,thus making positive contributions to the progress of music historiography in China.Taking the subjective and objective conditions of Luo Qin’s music historiography as the context,this article analyzes and interprets some of his academic writings in music historiography and presents his academic practice in the study of music historiography,so as to form a thorough understanding of Luo Qin’s study in this field.Through the case study of Luo Qin to raise the attention of academic circles to the ongoing and developing Chinese music historiography the author also reviews and summarizes the history of Chinese music historiography over the past 30 years,which presents’ Chinese experience’ and ‘Chinese reflection’ of its music historiography that will provide reference for future research.
