The washback effect is the impact of test on teaching and learning in the field of language teaching. As a high risk test, the NMET of Jiangsu Province has the greatest impact on teaching, and also exerts different effects on teachers'teaching and students' learning. There are not only positive effects, but also negative effects. This study aims to study the following questions:(1)what is the impact of NMET English writing test of Jiangsu Province on senior high school English teaching?(2)what is the impact of NMET writing test of Jiangsu Province on senior high school English learning?(3)what are the other influences of the washback effect of the NMET English writing test of Jiangsu Province on teaching and learning? The purpose is to make better use of the positive impact of the NMET English writing test of Jiangsu Province on teaching and learning and reduce its negative effects. This study takes two senior high schools in Danyang city of Jiangsu Province as an example. On the basis of previous theoretical research,24 teachers and 796 senior high school students have been studied on the backwash effect of the college entrance examination in Jiangsu Province on the teaching of writing teaching, with the help of SPSS22.0.The results of the data are statistically analyzed. The purpose is to explore the influence of the college entrance examination(Jiangsu volume)on the teaching and learning of the writing class, and to analyze the causes of its influence, and to bring forward the effective teaching measures to play its positive effect and avoid its negative influence. The results show that in the NMET of Jiangsu Province, the writing test has not only a certain degree of positive effects on the teaching and learning of English writing, but also produced some negative effects, but the overall positive impact is far greater than the negative effects. The impact of writing test on the students is not direct, and above all,is regulated by teacher, teaching. The positive washback effect is embodied in:(1)promoting teachers to enrich teaching methods constantly;(2)encouraging the teachers to rationalize the time on writing exercises;(3)provoking the positive impact on students' vocabulary, grammar and language communication. The negative effects are as follows:(1)teachers tend to overuse the test-related materials, which are separate from the basic knowledge teaching with single objectives;(2)classroom teaching is mainly skills-oriented,and teachers pays too much attention to the writing test itself. The contents and methods of item training are only limited to test subjects, totally ignoring students' comprehensive use of English language;(3)frequent tests,a single method of evaluation, and dull teaching all contribute to the students' underdeveloped potential;(4)teachers overemphasize marks. They take the achievement as the only criterion to evaluate students. With teachers teaching without referring to the textbook, there is a lack of interest in writing among students with heavy psychological burden and mental pressure.According to the above findings,in order to reduce the impact of negative effects of the NMET writing test of Jiangsu Province on teaching and learning in writing, the following teaching measures are put forward in view of the negative effects of the above four points:(1)to teach the skills of analyzing topics, improving learning methods, and activating teaching objectives;(2)to combine reading, writing and translating by various forms of teaching, and to relate test contents and materials closely to stimulate comprehensive use of English language;(3)to make full use of the samples in the NMET of Jiangsu Province in the form of creative dictation and recitation to reinforce the usage of the language;(4)to strengthen the motivation in writing by wisely using measurement feedback after students' mutual assessment.Through the above measures,it is expected that the positive washback effects of writing test are to be developed, and the negative adverse effects are to be reduced.
