Boundedness And Subjectivity Of Imperative Ba-construction

As a unique construction,ba-construction is always a research focus.Researches on syntax and semantics of ba-construction are core domains of traditional study.Another special construction,Imperative Construction,has attracted numerous scholars’ attention as well.However,research on Imperative ba-construction as an independent object of study is relatively not much.Besides,previous researches mainly focus on syntax and semantics of Imperative ba-construction,but barely concern boundedness and subjectivity of this construction.Based on previous findings,this thesis strives to demonstrate boundedness and subjectivity of Imperative ba-construction,and looks forward to enriching researches on such a construction.The bounding theory is an innovative viewpoint of cognitive linguistics,which breaks the limitation of traditional grammar.Based on the bounding theory,the thesis discusses the boundedness of all components and investigates the collocation and interaction among all components of Imperative ba-construction.What’s more,the thesis attempts to break the traditional idea of bounding theory and studies its features on different linguistic levels.It is found that the whole construction,Imperative ba-construction,is bounded.Boundness is closely related to the cognition,which provides conceptual basis and construal mechanism for it.When people describe situations with sentences,they show their attitude and emotion towards these sentences as well.There is no exception in constructing Imperative ba-construction.It relates to both subjectivity and a particular way of representation.On the basis of previous achievements,the thesis demonstrates subjectivity of Imperative ba-construction from three aspects,i.e.,the speaker’s emotion,the speaker’s perspective and epistemic modality.Moreover,the thesis points out that boundedness and subjectivity interact and intertwine with each other.This study shows that boundedness of Imperative ba-construction is a reflection of subjective function.On the other hand,subjectivity of Imperative ba-construction provides the foundation for its boundedness.This thesis mainly focuses on boundedness and subjectivity of Imperative ba-construction,which only looks forward to providing researches on these two issues with a new perspective and offering a template to cross-over study.
