| ZHENG Mengjin,born in Wenzhou of Zhejiang Province,was a Ci and Qu researcher as well as a librarian in Zhejiang Provincial Research Institute of Culture and History.He had devoted all his life to the exploration of Song Ci,Nan Bei Qu in the Yuan and Ming dynasties and Chinese classical music.In the study on etymology and Kunqu opera,he had made outstanding achievements.He not only wrote scripts for Red Mansions in the form of Kunqu opera and Chamber of Powder and Rouge and Generals of the Yang Family in the form of Peking opera,but also compiled the development histories for traditional Chinese operas,such as Accompaniment of “Haiyan Tone” and “Chang Zhuan” and“Zhu Gong Diao” in the Southern Song Dynasty and Kunqiang Tone Circulated in Jiande and Jinhua regions in the west of Zhejiang Province.His representative works include Study on Music of Song Ci,Music and Lyrics of Kunqu Opera,Etymological Annotation,Chinese Operatic Tune Music in the Form of Long and Short Sentences,A New Exploration of Haiyan Tone,Interpretation of Several Paragraphs in Xu Wei’s “Nan Ci Xu Lu”,Discussion of Problems in “Wenzhou Dramas” in the SouthernSong Dynasty.In the 1990 s,he had been invited to attend seminars by some institutions such as Nanjing Kunqu Opera Theatre,Jiangsu Provincial Kunqu Opera School,Shanghai Theater Academy,and Wenzhou Normal University.He had made important contributions to the study on Ci and Qu.This paper mainly focuses on the study on Zheng Mengjin and his achievements in music,which consists of four chapters and introduction,appendix and postscript parts.In the first chapter,ZHENG Mengjin’s life story,academic experience and his assiduous seeking for music are illustrated.In the second chapter,the structure and content of Study on Music of Song Ci wrote by ZHENG Mengjin are described.In the third chapter,the characteristics of ZHENG Mengjin’s exploration of Ci and Qu in his Research of Song Ci Music are analyzed.In the fourth chapter,the creative inspiration,artistic conception and emotions embodied in the Research of Song Ci Music are explored from the perspective of the author’s growing environment.Through the above exploration,ZHENG Mengjin’s contributions to the development of China’s contemporary music are revealed.But meanwhile,this paper allows readers to have an overall grasp of ZHENG Mengjin’s concepts and connotations in the Study on Music of Song Ci and have a more comprehensive understanding of musical characteristics in Song Ci.Moreover,it provides a channel for scholars to recognize theachievements made by ZHENG Mengjin in the research on Ci and Qu and accept his ideological system in classical music.In this paper,ZHENG Mengjin is evaluated objectively on the basis of combining his contributions in music with his social environment in which he lived.His research results are mainly reflected in his works,particularly,in his Research of Song Ci Music.Through a comprehensive analysis of this book,this paper reveals this book’s high academic value and his contributions to the study on Song Ci and even Chinese music history.His research results are of great significance to the study on Ci and Qu in China,which not only enrich regional music culture in Zhejiang,but also promote the inheritance and development of traditional music culture. |
