A Report On The Translation Of Introductions Of Oifeng Ancient Garden

On May 19th,2016,Premier Li Keqiang delivered a speech titled Let Tourism Be the Boat of World's Peaceful Development at the opening ceremony of the first World Tourism Development Conference.Under such circumstances,it has become a trend to vigorously develop tourism industry and promote cultural exchanges between China and foreign countries.Therefore,high-quality tourism text translation plays an important role in tourism development and cultural communication.This translation report chooses Introductions of Qifeng Ancient Garden as the translation text,which is not only challenging,but also has a practical significance for the external communication and presentation of the Central Plains culture.This report briefly introduces the current state of tourism development and the translation project.On the basis of preparation before translation,such as searching relevant materials on tourism text translation(including background knowledge,close reading,parallel texts and translation tools),analyzing the original text types and seeking for the theoretical basis and so on,the translator analyzes major difficulties in translation-the translation of scenic spots names,the translation of couplets and poems and the translation of historical allusions.With case analysis on how to deal with all these difficulties,the translator makes a detailed analysis on the use of specific translation methods,such as free translation,transliteration+literal translation,literal translation,corresponding translation and deletion under the guidance of Skopostheorie.Also,these methods are classified and summarized for the translation of tourism texts.Finally,the translator summarizes the whole translation practice,points out the problems to be solved and the qualities of translators from the perspective of professional capability and professional quality.
