| Stimuli associated with reward in a training session can automatically capture attention in a following visual search task, and this phenomenon has been named as value-driven attentional capture. Many research focused on the mechanism of value-driven attentional capture, however, there is a dispute about whether this mechanism is based on classical conditioning or instrumental conditioning.Across two experiments, the present study investigated the mechanism of value-driven attentional capture with a developmental perspective, and the influence of search mode on value-driven attentional capture. The study consequence has important implication to further understand the mechanism of value-driven attentional capture. In Experiment 1,the development of value-driven attentional capture among school-age children, adolescence and adult was compared using a value-driven attentional capture paradigm, and the results showed that from school-age children to adult, there was a continuous enhancement on accuracy rate, but the acceleration of reaction only appeared between school-age child and adolescence.Value-driven attentional capture was presented on all three age groups, however, there was no significant difference among these three groups on the degree of value-driven attentional capture.Besides, there was also no difference on attentional capture between high-reward distractor and low-reward distractor across all three age groups. In Experiment 2,the type of target in test phase was changed, and the influence of search mode on value-driven attentional capture was investigated with additional adult participants. The results showed that there was no difference on the response time between two search modes, which indicated that value-driven attentional capture will present on feature search mode, and there was no significance difference on the degree of value-driven attentional capture under different search mode.In conclusion, the present study indicates that:(1)stimuli associated with reward capture attention of school-age child, adolescence and adult with the same level, and the formation of value-driven attentional capture is based on classical conditioning;(2)the degree of value-driven attentional capture was free of the influence of search mode. |
