The basic goal of education is to enable students to become independent,autonomous and effective learners.Learning strategies are the key variables of autonomous learning.And most primary students are lack of consciousness and initiative.On the other hand,some students lack of good learning habits and effective strategies,so they prefer to holding-on when they encounter difficulties.Therefore,the learning interest of English of students from grade 4 to 6 declined year by year and the polarization between achievers and under-achievers is obvious.So how to solve this problem is very important.This study attempts to explore the relationship between learning strategies and autonomous learning strategies of achievers and under-achievers from grade 4 to 6.In this study,we adopted the questionnaire of English Learning Strategies of Primary School Students.Compiled by Liu and Yan(2013)and Autonomous Learning Strategies Questionnaire by Yan.A total of 73 achievers and 67 under-achievers from grade 4 to 6 were randomly selected in Tianjin for investigation.The results are as follows:1.There are significant differences in the academic level of English learning strategies of primary school students from Grade 4 to Grade 6.2.There are significant differences in the academic level of autonomous learning strategies of primary school students from Grade 4 to Grade 6.3.The correlation between English learning strategies and autonomous learning strategies of primary school students is significant.4.Cognitive strategies of English learning strategies for primary school students in grades 4-6 have a predictive effect on students 'academic performanceBased on the results above,we make the following suggestions:1.The related departments should enhance the training of English learning strategies for English teachers2.English teachers should enhance the guidance and training of English learning strategies for students...
