With the help of global technology development,various forms of new media,such as digital TV and Facebook,are emerging all over the world,which are closely related to our life.The rapid development of new media has brought great changes to our daily life,at the same time,it changed the old public mode and formed the new public,accelerated the process of global integration,and joined the world as an inseparable whole.The translation text is an excerpt from Contemporary Publics:Shifting Boundaries in New Media,Technology and Culture,this book is published by Palgrave Macmillan UK in 2016.The eighth chapters and ninth chapters of this book are selected to be translated into Chinese.The two chapters are mainly about the reduction of social media by the devolopment of media technology and the formation of the cosmopolitanism.Since the translation text is likely to be a combination of various text types,Newmark puts forward the "relevance translation method",which eliminates the distinct distinction between semantic translation and communicative translation,and combines the two more closely.The translation practice uses Newmark's theory of relevance translation as the guiding theory to deal with the difficulties of translation by using the composition analysis,the adjustment of translation,the functional equivalence and the interpretation.In dealing with the translation of new media terms,the best translation ideas are found through relevance translation theory.The abstract concepts are figurative and the appropriate translations are obtained by using the method of component analysis and functional equivalence.The methods of adjustment and interpretation helps me analyze sentence components,so that I can make our translation more clear and logical.At present,the development trend of new media is also very rapid in China,although it is still in the initial stage,but the future development is still promising,so the translation of this topic has a very important theoretical guiding significance for the development of new media in China.
