This report is based on my translation of the first three Chapters of the novella Animal Farm written by George Orwell. In this report, the reporter introduces the overall translation project, including project background and significance, and the translation schedule. The report expounds the major issues and difficulties from the five aspects of quantity and syntax, lexicon, writing, sentence and style according to foregrounding theory during the translation process.Through a comparative analysis of the two Chinese versions of Animal Farm by Rong Rude and Fu Weici separately, this reporte discusses the merits and demerits of their translation and re-examines the reporter's own translation. With such studies,it explores the possible method how to fully convey the original work's meaning and improve the quality of translation. It intends to provide some literary translation examples worthy of reference for fiction translating techniques.
