As a crucial part of learning English,vocabulary plays a role as the brick to the building.However,for high school English learners,small vocabulary is a ubiquitous problem.But for a long time,vocabulary teaching has not been attached its due importance as the grammar teaching does.Meanwhile,with the speeding process of globalization,students are faced with the challenge of increasing requirements towards English.Based on that,the author attempts to take advantage of vocabulary teaching in high school to explore the effects of teaching methods upon students' autonomous memory efficiency,thus to prove the relationship between them,which will inspire the teachers to adopt different approaches and change students'bad learning habits.Based on vocabulary teaching and memory strategies,the experiment lasts for three months,including two questionnaires and three tests.The first step is to learn about the basic information of teachers and students.Two classes are chosen as the experimental subjects in Zhengzhou Foreign Language School.Class 4 is the experimental class while class 3 works as the controlled class.In the experiment,the teacher introduced various vocabulary teaching strategies in the experimental class and remained the same in the controlled class.After the experiment,this new teaching method was introduced to other teachers.Another questionnaire was done in order to compare the changes of students' learning habits and teachers' teaching concept.After the experiment,the author collected and analyzed the data and scores with the help of SPSS.We can draw the following conclusions from the experiment:firstly,students who were taught by the teaching strategies had a better grasp of the words taught by the teacher;secondly,students would be influenced by the teaching strategies and use them in their autonomous vocabulary memory.What's more,based on the analytical results about the questionnaires and tests,the author comes up with some implications on the high school vocabulary teaching,which will be of use to the English class teaching in high school.
