Joyous Snow Lantern Festival is an acclaimed Suona concerto composed by Professor Liu Yin in 1984.In 2016,Professor Wang Lili transcribed this piece for Erhu.Among the transcriptions for Chinese folk tunes,there are currently few works in the style of North Eastern Chinese folk music.In this dissertation,the author reviewed the relevant literature in North Eastern Chinese folk music.The author then compared the music form and performance practices of the Joyous Snow Lantern Festival with that of the other same style Erhu transcription – River of Sorrow in order to study their similarities due to their North Eastern Chinese folk music style nature.The author subsequently discussed the significance and implications of North Eastern Chinese folk music on Chinese-folk-music-style Erhu transcriptions' music forms and performance practices.
