The New Curriculum Reform has been promoted in our province for many years, and the College Entrance Examination has also undergone new changes.Writing is an essential part of the College Entrance Examination, and occupies a large proportion of it.But English writing teaching is a difficult task in senior high school. After studying for three years, many students still cannot write the correct sentences, and cannot meet the writing requirements of the College Entrance Examination. The teacher tried to correct the composition and explain the mistakes. But the effect is not obvious. In this paper, based on the theories of Contrastive Analysis,Error Analysis and Language Transfer, and in reference to the examples of the second language acquisition errors at home and abroad, the present study collected and analyzed 112 compositions written in a month exam by the third year students of senior from Gaotai No.1 middle school, which is aimed to find and analyze the reasons on errors. Then it contributes to the writing teaching of English teachers.Teachers will attach great importance to error analysis and find proper ways to instruct their teaching timely. Finally, they will help their students reduce and avoid errors. There are mainly two research questions which are listed of this thesis.(1)What types of errors do Senior Three students usually make in their English writings?(2)What are the possible causes of the errors made by Senior Three students in their English writing? The study found that the students' errors were totally 1456.The proportion of grammatical errors was about 65.8%,accounting for the largest of all errors, among which verb errors and sentence structure errors were 25.8%and 41.4%.There are many reasons which mainly lie in the inter-lingual transfer and intra-lingual transfer, and the culture of Chinese and English in language expression and logical relation above is different.Secondly, there were 398 technical errors, accounting for 27.3%.This is mainly that the students' basic knowledge is not solid enough, and the overall language level is also different. However, there were relatively few discourse errors, only 6.9%.Students' misunderstand the writing standard and incomplete sentence structure may lead to such errors. This study has the following implications for future teaching:First, for the Technical Errors, teachers should work hard at the basic knowledge of students.During the teaching, they can strengthen the memory of words, and consolidate all kinds of usages which they have learned through specific contexts. The teacher's emphasis on vocabularies determines the students'basic knowledge of language. At the same time, teachers should train students' methods of answering questions, correct their bad habits and require the standard capitalization and punctuation.Second, because the Grammatical Errors appear frequently, teachers should explore appropriate writing teaching methods timely, and use the contrastive analysis theory to resolve errors caused by negative transfer of mother tongue.Teachers should deal with their teaching according to students' aptitude, then put forward different writing requirements in terms of their different language bases, finally they assign homework in different levels.Facing the common grammatical errors in students' compositions,we should concentrate on the explanation and increase the corresponding exercises to strengthen the use of them.Third, although there are few errors in the discourse,it is still an important phenomenon.Due to incorrect answer habits and carelessness,it is easy to cause the loss of students' scores.Teachers usually provide targeted help for students. Finally, after writing, teachers should provide effective feedback for students.Only when students take their mistakes into account seriously and correct them in time can they develop good writing habits. In conclusion, the author hopes that this study can help students reduce their writing errors and enable teachers to reflect on teaching and explore effective teaching methods to improve their writing ability.Because the research time is limited, and the research subjects and samples can only represent a certain level of students. The research content still has many deficiencies to be perfected. The author will continue to make progress in the future teaching and research, and also hope that this study will help the author's teaching.
