| The ingroup derogation is an unusual but universal phenomenon, manifested as a love of "outsiders" more than "owners".Predecessors’research put forward hypotheses from an evolutionary point of view. The ingroup derogation may be a kind of behavioral immunity. At the same time,it also verified that its output complies with smoke detection principles and functional flexibility principles. The individual responds to different levels of disease and responds to different levels of ingroup derogation and disease protection can also reduce the output of ingroup derogation. The purpose of this study is to examine whether the protection of the disease is to reduce the disgust, thereby reducing the role of ingroup derogation. In Experiment 1,the participants were grouped using the smallest group paradigm and the participants were divided into two groups of different personality.Participants completed a preference task after viewing the disease threat video(control group watch a neutral video)and whether to accept the disease protection operation. There will also be a separate emotional assessment before and after watching the video. The results repeat the previous research conclusions.Only superficial grouping clues will cause the ingroup derogation and both disease threats and disease protection can affect the output of ingroup derogation. The results also found that disgust played a significant mediating role in the psychological immunization model in which disease threats-disease protection-ingroup derogation.Experiment 2 is an extension of Experiment 1.The purpose is to test the ingroup derogation as a kind of behavioral immunity should not only affect the evaluation response related to attitudes, but also influence the basic social cognitive processes related to group identity.Experiment 2 is basically the same as that of Experiment 1,but it changed the evaluation method of ingroup derogation, replacing post-operation preference tasks with intergroup categorization tasks. The results were consistent with experiment one,and disgust still played a significant mediating role. These results suggest that disease protection measures(using sterile medical gloves)are effectively reducing ingroup derogation by reducing people’s perception of disgust. The experiment not only proved that the ingroup derogation obeyed the principle of smoke detection and the principle of functional flexibility, but also proved that their changes were regulated by disgust, further supporting the hypothesis that the ingroup derogation was a kind of behavioral immunity. |
