In "Book of Rites and Faith",he said: “in the ceremony, the crown ceremony is the beginning of the ceremony, the wedding ceremony is the foundation of the ceremony, the funeral ceremony and the sacrificial ceremony are the most grand, and the ceremony and the ceremony can best reflect the respect. The shooting ceremony and the village drinking ceremony are the best expressions of harmony. This is the general situation of the ceremony.”Funeral rituals, which are related to family and society, are an important part of Confucian culture.Starting from the Confucian classics and books, the ceremonies, rules, systems and ethical thoughts reflected in the funeral ceremony are discussed, which have their theoretical significance and practical value."Zhou Li","Rituals",and "Book of Rites" are existing Confucian classics that describe funeral etiquette. The part of the“three rites”involving funeral rituals has a relatively large proportion and is very complex. It records many matters concerning funerals,in particular stipulating the mourning service system and funeral period system, and fully interpreting the spiritual connotation of the funeral service,Embodies the Confucian culture of "death as a matter of life and death as a matter of existence."There are rich ethical ideas in Confucian funeral ceremonies.Throughout the moral concept of the entire funeral etiquette,we can use the phrase "carefully and carefully learn the saints" funeral etiquette to follow the principle of "close relationship with their loved ones" and "respect one’s own father";sadness should be temperate("change of state of mind")Show restraint at the funeral ceremony, and finally implemented as a mourning period system. These three arguments are complementary to each other and are the core of many ethical ideas in the funeral ceremonies of Confucianism. Some of these principles have been used up to now.Through specific rituals and external norms,it reinforces the concept of filial piety, consolidates the thoughts of honoring relatives and respects, regulates sad emotions of bereavement, and promotes and practices the awareness of love and respect. This is the ideological core of Confucian funeral rituals. The reality of Confucian funeral ceremonies is complex. The impact of Western thought on Chinese traditional funeral culture cannot be underestimated. The change of the funeral system from burial to cremation is a huge challenge for modern Chinese who have been deeply affected by traditional burial ethical thoughts for thousands of years. The advantages of modern funeral ceremonies are reflected in the simplification of rituals and the saving of time. The idea of“reducing the investment in financial and material resources after death, and caring more about the life of a loved one” has its theoretical and practical applicability and persuasion. The disadvantage of modern funeral ceremonies is that the funeral rituals are driven by economic interests, the emotions of the living beings are nowhere to be placed, and the function of Confucianism in funeral ceremonies cannot be implemented. It is imperative to absorb the essence of Confucian funeral rituals, use it for ancient times, introduce new ideas, change and improve funeral etiquette. The inheritance and innovation of the Confucian funeral etiquette should therefore be on the agenda.By considering the meaning of life through funeral rituals, inheriting the essence of family culture in traditional funeral ceremonies and expressing feelings of remembrance and remembrance through various channels, this is the three points we should pay attention to in the process of reconstructing funeral etiquette. What practical value and ethical meaning of Confucian funeral ceremonies are today, how to combine the current social reality of China to innovate funeral rituals, and how to make proper moral choices in the face of death are questions that are worth pondering and answering.
