Admitted to high school,student’ s English scores appear down across the group.Not only does this problem have great effect on the mental and physical development,but also challenge the teachers in front.What on earth lead to the great change? The essay explores this problem from two aspects: learning strategies and learning motivation,then puts forward some countermeasures.The author hopes it can provide students and teachers the theoretical evidences and practices.This study selected 300 students from senior one to three in the Xi Tie middle school as a research object,and adopted “middle school students learning strategies and motivation questionnaires” to explore Correlation between learning motivation,learning strategies and English scores.Findings:(1)Learning motivation is an influential factor in English scores.Not only can it play a direct role in English scores,but also affect English scores through learning strategies.(2)As the grades go up,in general,learning motivation,learning strategies and English scores gradually decline.learning motivation,learning strategies and English scores between senior one and senior two obviously superior to senior three.Those of Olympic classes are higher than common class.Those of boys are better than girls.(3)In the Stepwise Regression Analysis,Feedback adjustment strategy dimension,and Knowledge learning scene dimension are two obviously variable quantities which can predict English scores.According to the result,we may take following measures to improve English learning situation and English scores.Hope to enlightenment for learning motivation and learning strategies intervention.(1)Training English reading habit.For example,reading English passages,English newspaper,which can motivate interests of learning English.(2)Teachers may create interesting classes,make the context practical,students can learn knowledge as practice,then inspire their learning motivation and stimulate enthusiasm.(3)Bringing knowledge of psychology into classes,train learning strategies of students.Because of differences between recognition level and learning ability,learning strategies are different each other.
