A Study On Li Zhi And His Poetry

Li Zhi is one member of the Six Man.Because he is a student of Su Shi,to the Northern Song Dynasty,a great many researches have been conducted on the relationship between them,but little attention has been paid to Li Zhi's works.Ji'nan collection is an anthology of Li Zhi's poetic prose.This article selects poetry as the research object,so as to analyze Li Zhi's friendship,the characteristics of poetics,the theme and the artistic characteristics of poetry.As one member of Su,the pattern of Li Zhi's social intercourse is based on Su Shi,then spreading around.Apart from associating with Su Shi and the Six Man,he also contacts with other officials and monks.Su Shi and the Sic Man have a great influence on Li Zhi's poetics,whose poetics form his characteristics in succession and development: tracing to the source of spirit of The book of songs.Dating back to the style in Jian an period.showing great interest in the poetry of t'ao ch'ien,inheriting the style of Li Bai and Du Fu.Meanwhile,he puts forward a theory of ‘Ti,Zhi,Qi and Yun',which lays a new foundation for poetic creation and poetry review.His poetry covers almost all the important areas including Wonders of poetry,poetry of scenery,History poetry,Changhe poems(poem of writing and replying),poetry of life and Elegiac Poems.Specifically speaking,Wonders of poetry contains wandering life with complicated emotion and touring with lively style;poetry of scenery mostly focus on using objective things to express Ambition,Borrow Shuhuai;History poetry is mostly about a conflicted statement which by telling the story of the hermit expresses one's adversity in career.And it also expresses a sense of helplessness by depicting the change of the world;Changhe poems primarily refers to daily life,life experience and the compliment of men of virtue and talents and good achievements;poetry of Life presents the life of a poet and reflects life philosophy as well;Elegiac Poems expresses the poet's deep memory towards the dead.All in all,the Poetry is rich in content.From the aspective of artistic features,the poet has an aptitude forthe archaic quatrains and he is passionate for Ci Yun(use the rhyme sequence of a poem)and Fen Yun,which reflects the diversity of poetic genres;Li Zhi's potery is concise and profound in language and elegant;in general,this potery appears concise and implicit and he writes in a roundabout way.The values of Li Zhi's potery in the literary history can't be neglected in Song Dynasty.
