Zhang Qin Calligraphy Research

With the collapse of the Qing dynasty,Zhang qin had to call himself Qing diehard as a successful candidate in the last Chinese imperial examination.His characteristics shows multidimensional contradictory under the background of the late Qing Dynasty and the early Republic of China.In material,he had to sell his calligraphy to earn a living under the turbulent situation even though he became a government official.In spirit,he had to be a helpless watchman.He buried himself in books and devoted himself to academic studies,and on the other hand he devoted himself to public welfare and engaged in education.All above leaves a shallow impression on us,but his calligraphy,formed on the basis of profound cultural accomplishment,can be masterpiece.In the specific historical period of the late Qing Dynasty and the early Republic of China,there were amazing traces.He strongly opposed the revolutionary measures and sympathized with the gentle change of feelings,which made him appear on the basis of tradition and appeared not to be in the same way as the secular style of calligraphy.From the limited historical materials,the writer cites his life experience,family academic context and education experience.As to the factors which influenced his styles of calligraphy,I selected several influential masters to prove the specialty of his calligraphy.These will make up the lacking of materials on his calligraphy,meanwhile express my respect to my county sage.First chapter: summarizing his life experience and family academics to show his academic accumulations of calligraphy.Second chapter: According to his life experience,during the 10 years of his study following Yu yue,he rarely dabbled in Epigraphic Calligraphy,and had to make great efforts on Guangeti calligraphy for the purpose of official rank.During the 10 years in company with Shen zengzhi,he was strongly influenced by Shen zengzhi and we can find clear traces.During his late period,he brought northern calligraphy style and southern calligraphy style together and understood thoroughly.Finally his calligraphy fixed at style of Jin dynasty and Tang dynasty.Third chapter:Under the social background of his age,Zhang qin’s acknowledge to calligraphy.To perceive his calligraphy through comparison of Zhang’s calligraphy and Shen’s;To value his calligraphy in the field of Epigraphic Calligraphy.To explore his calligraphy thoughts.Summary: because of his life experience and limits,Zhang qin can not be named as Master.But his scholarship wins a place in cursive script and running script.
