National Public Opinion Security And The Discourses Constructed By Foreign Newspapers During The Boxer Movement

It has been presented on the stage of history as a "great change for thousands of years." The Boxer Movement has always been the focus of modern Chinese history studies.It has thousands of studies on the Boxer movement.Its writing is rich,its disciplines are broad,and its views are diverse.The study of modern Chinese history is unique.This paper takes modern newspapers and journals history as the research perspective,and uses media discourse analysis theory as the main research path.It takes creative attention to the topics of discourse construction and public opinion security.Through research on the reports and theories of the “Declaration”,“News” and “Chinese and Foreign Daily”,which have important influence during the Boxer Movement,we analyzed how discourse construction of Chinese newspapers with dominant foreign backgrounds in Chinese journalism was conducted during the Boxer Movement.How these discourses reflected and influenced public opinion at that time,and at the same time they used history as a reference to discuss their reference to the current state of public opinion security.The article takes the time of the Boxer movement as the main context,and analyzes the characteristics of the news discourse construction in three different periods by analyzing the Boxer movement from the initial stage to the development stage,and then to the climax stage.The author believes that during the Boxer movement,the foreign newspapers occupying discourse monopoly status in the Chinese public opinion circles always sought to protect the interests of the great powers in China in the process of constructing discourse,and through the selection,expression,suggestion,argument,and even distortion of the facts.Such means as the construction of news discourse,and at the same time safeguarding the interests of the powers,actively conducting public opinion guidance,building their positions in a subtle manner in the minds of the audience,forming a favorable public opinion and social environment to meet the powers of the powers.Interest demands.Behind the appeal of interest is the infiltration of the colonialist ideology of the imperialist aggressors.The long absence of the Qing dynasty in the construction of media discourse made it easier for foreign media to construct media discourse.From the perspective of the discourse created during the Boxer movement and the security of contemporary public opinion,the author concludes that only by insisting on safeguarding the national interest and building an independent and complete communication system,and constantly expanding from the perspective of the dissemination,influence,and self-renewal of public opinion.The strengthening of public opinion security and the firm support of national development as public opinion security can ensure that the initiative that does not receive discourse is always in their hands and can effectively safeguard the public opinion.
