Teaching Chinese as a foreign language has been developing vigorously in recent years,but Chinese character teaching has always been a weak link.Chinese characters are hard to learn and Chinese character teaching is not valued.It is a prominent problem in Chinese teaching in various countries.Chinese characters itself complex structure,various symbols,there is great difference and phonography.Foreign students feel difficult in their study,but on the other hand,the unique charm of Chinese characters also attracts them to learn Chinese.Ecuador is located in Latin America.Its native language is Spanish with horizontal structure.It is quite different from Chinese characters.For them,Chinese character learning may be a great learning obstacle,and the combination of Chinese characters,forms and meanings is also a heavy burden on students’ learning.Chinese characters teaching situation based on the research of Ecuador Siyuan Chinese language school,explore the root of difficulties of learning Chinese characters.Firstly,we investigate the learners’ learning strategies preferences through questionnaire survey,analyze the survey results,collect the errors of Chinese characters of Ecuador students,classify them,and understand the current Chinese character teaching methods of Chinese teachers in Ecuador by interview.Then under the guidance of error analysis theory and Chinese character acquisition cognitive theory,this paper analyzes the problems in current teaching in Ecuador,designs teaching programs for learners in Ecuador,and finally summarizes the need for improvement in teaching plans,as well as the shortcomings of this research.
