Research On Wen Yiduo’s Literary Language View

Basing on Wen Yiduo’s literary language views,the research collects and refines the scattered theories,and then gives a systematical and integrated explanation.According to the development of Wen Yiduo’s literary language concepts,this thesis mainly discusses the following three parts.Chapter one focuses on the form of Wen Yiduo’s literary language views.Wen Yiduo thought that the spirit of literature must rely on its external forms,namely in the field of arts and literature,there is no form without content.Therefore,he started to think and construct the form of language when he joined the literary world.With the help of western research methods,dividing the structure of the poetic language into particular elements,Wen Yiduo raised the idea of "Four element theories"to make a further explanation about "sound" and "color",which are known as form elements.Later on,Wen Yiduo further confirmed the important principles of the formal beauty of language——"the beauty of music"、" the beauty of painting"、"the beauty of architecture",and finally constructed an exquisite metrical rules——New Metrical Poems,to show obvious aesthetic tendency and modern character.Chapter two discusses the elasticity and tension of Wen Yiduo’s literary language views.Combining the research results of classical academic with the concrete experience of poetic creation,Wen Yiduo discovered the great advantage of poetic language comparing with other artistic languages——the adaptability of language,so he put forward the idea of "adaptability".Wen Yiduo thought the varied language which is features adaptability and flexibility is an important way to strengthen the appeal of literature.There are various ways to achieve adaptability and flexibility:a perfect language economy that is full of emotions and philosophies is set up by breaking the gap between language and ideology;reconcile contradictions based on solving the conflicts and interactions between the nakedness and suggestibility,vulgarity and elegance,beauty and ugliness in language;we can realize the flexibility of language through balancing the universality and individuality of language.Chapter three discusses the emotional expressions and value pursuit of Wen Yiduo’s literary language view.Regarding emotion as the nature of literature,when facing emotional expressions of literary language,he regarded calmness and abstinence as two important factors,and dialectically harmonized the contradiction of aesthetic principle between"controlling emotion reasonably" and"opposing putting the reason into poem".In the discussion of the relationship between fancy and emotion,Wen Yiduo believed that the language with fancy is the climax of emotion,and the application of fancy is the main artistic mean to express emotion.Meanwhile,Wen Yiduo’s literary language view has noble value pursuit,which is mainly manifested in the following two aspects.On the one hand,In the special times,Wen Yiduo paid more attention on the practical functions of literary language,regarding language as "the criticism of life" and "the drummer of the age",and put forward the ideal of’drumbeats language".On the other hand,Wen believed a kind of literature language value concerning on both"efficiency" and "value",and made the unification of truth,kindness and beauty the core of its value in the field of literary creation and criticism.
