This thesis is based on Robert Young White Mythologies: Writing History and the West as a cornerstone and the contents of the books Postcolonialism: A Historical Introduction and "Postcolonialism: A Very Short Introduction." Yang's vision of postcolonial theory explores how Yang is deeply rooted in Western theory with the unique position of a pure European white man, excavating the context of the emergence and development of post-colonialism,and his theoretical background of contemporary deconstruction and history as What new developments have been brought about by postcolonialism. The first part of this thesis is an introduction. It mainly introduces the life experience of Robert Young himself and makes a brief review of his post-colonial thought. At the same time,he also discusses the domestic and foreign literature of Yang's post-colonial theory and the purpose and significance of this study. The second part discusses the historical origins found by Yang during the study of post-colonial theory and the plight of historical writing.Yang pointed out that the writing of Western history after Hegel and Marx was difficult to escape the curse of “the dialectics of the same and the other”.The causes and manifestations of Eurocentrism can be traced back to this curse.Under the circumstance of this ideological atmosphere,European countries have gradually developed the same discourse with the other, history has become a problematic concept, and it has also caused the French school and the Frankfurt school to reflect on the historical tradition. In the third part,Yang sorts out the historical and theoretical concepts of Sartre,Althusser,Derrida,Foucault and others to tease out the development of the relationship between the West and the other, and discusses how these representative scholars have come out.The common sense and the predicament of the same and different dialects spelled out the groundwork for the following discussion of the theory and development of the "postcolonial Trinity".In the fourth part,Yang elaborates and criticizes the theories of “postcolonial Trinity " :Said,Homi Baba, and Spivak, and shows that there is also a gradual state of absorption and critique coexisting among the three..He conducted an in-depth analysis and combing of these three post-colonial theories, and on this basis developed his unique "Three continents doctrine".
