Gambling exists in various cultures as a social recreational activity.Previous studies have shown that gambling related cognition,sensation seeking and near-miss effect play an important role in the occurrence,development and maintenance of gambling behavior.A large number of foreign studies have shown that the frequency of college students’ participation in gambling activities in a variety of ways is increasing,and a few students have even reached the degree of pathological gambling.To a certain extent,all these findings show that college students have gradually become a target group for gambling research.Therefore,this study takes college students as testees,discuss the sensation seeking tendency of high and low gambling related cognition groups and the relationship with near-miss effect.The first study collected data from 475 college students by questionnaires.According to the questionnaire scores,the high and low gambling related cognition bias group was formed,and then analyzed and compared the sensation seeking tendency of different groups,explored whether there was significant difference about sensation seeking tendency between the two groups.The second study randomly selected participants with high and low gambling related cognition groups to participate in behavioral research,analyzed and compared the differences in psychological characteristics between the two groups in the face of different experimental results,especially whether there was a significant difference in the continuous gambling impulsivity.The results of the study are as follows:First,there is a significant difference between the gambling related cognition bias of high and low gambling related cognition groups,that is,the higher gambling related cognition bias group has a higher score on the sensation seeking tendency and the four dimensions.Second,after the near-miss results,the high gambling cognition bias group scored significantly higher on persistent gambling impulsivity than the low gambling related cognition bias group.In addition,the degree of counterfactual thinking,the experience of regret,the winning expectation of gambling,and the control of the roulette are also higher than those of low gambling related cognition bias.Third,compared with the low gambling related cognition bias group,the high gambling related cognition bias group not only had higher impulsivity of continuous gambling under the near-miss condition,but also the continued gambling impulse under the three conditions of full-miss,near-loss and clear-wen are significantly stronger.The above result show that the higher the gambling related cognition bias is,the stronger the sensation seeking tendency is,they are more likely to make risky behaviors,whether in gambling or in daily life,this cognition bias may also lead them to mistakenly believe that the near-miss results are due to personal skills,or that the result is a signal of the forthcoming victory,thus making a decision to continue gambling.
