Professional Standards for Middle School and High School Teachers which published in 2012 raise a claim about teachers' Pedagogical Content Knowledge(short for PCK)that is the core of teachers' professional knowledge,which is especially necessary for effective teaching.In recent years,A great many foreign and domestic scholars tended to connect PCK with different subject.In numerous studies,the researches about mathematics teachers' PCK are fairly abundant.Besides,the researches which study English teachers' PCK are more and more.However,the research about English teachers' PCK in reading instruction that is a crucial portion of English teaching is particularly rare.Therefore,based on what mentioned above,this paper takes the high school English teachers of three key high schools from Chongqing,Tongliang.And then discussed senior high school English teachers' PCK in reading instruction by using empirical study.The study will explore the following three questions: what's the current situation of High School English Teaches' PCK in reading instruction? What are the questions? What are the Effective Strategies towards the questions?The paper takes questionnaire,classroom observation and interview investigation as research methods to study the present situation of senior high school English teachers' PCK in reading instruction.Based reorganizing and analyzing the literature,the author defines the meaning and the core five elements of senior high school English teachers' PCK in reading instruction,which is the knowledge about teaching objectives of English reading,students' learning and understanding of reading,English reading course,English reading text and teaching techniques of English reading.On the basis of the definition and factors of PCK in reading instruction,the author analyzes the questionnaire by SPSS,and analyzed classroom observation,interview investigation,then seeks out the overall problems and concrete questions of the five core elements in current situation of PCK in reading instruction.Finally,the effective strategies will be explored.At last,the research has found that the entirety of senior high school English teachers' PCK in reading instruction was located in medium high.Among the five core elements,the mastery of the knowledge about English reading course is best,the knowledge about teaching strategies of English reading is worst,English teaching aims is relatively poor and the rest two aspects of knowledge about PCK in reading instruction is grasped in general level.Hence,the conclusion could be reached that the knowledge about teaching strategies and aims in reading instruction have more problems.Finally,the effective strategies are presented one by one which is targeted for every overall and concrete question.The aim of that is to promote senior high school English teachers' PCK in reading instruction and improve the practice of reading instruction.
