With the development of the society,people’s aesthetic consciousness begins to be improved nowadays,and the decorative design of people’s life also begins to have a certain aesthetic requirement,which greatly have promoted the development of the decorative design in our country.In all sorts of decoration,the “annual decoration which is the most reflective feature on Chinese cultural characteristics gradually is taken seriously by people.Nowadays,most of the market in the annual decoration design directly applies the previous design of the door god,five blessing god,the Children-Sending Guanyin(a goddess in ancient Chinese myth,kitchen god and other image templates.However,the stereotyped style has been unable to attract the attention of people,so the design of annual decorative innovation has become the current important problem to be solved.In such cases,how to carry forward and inheriting the traditional culture has become the designers unshirkable responsibility,and combines in decoration and zodiac culture has also become a kind of way is more popular with people of the new design.On the one hand,the Chinese zodiac is the visual carrier of the year culture,for each year corresponds to a Chinese zodiac animal.The combination of these two art forms is more likely to meet people’s cultural needs.On the other hand,the anthropomorphic design of zodiac given the image of a fairy in its annual decoration can more fit the people’s aesthetic needs in modern society.For this year is year of the dog.this paper takes year of the dog as an example to study the annual decoration design.Since ancient times,dog tokens loyalty and integrity.Although it is neither respected like a dragon,nor praised like a tiger,dog is the closest friend of human.dog has been the initial domesticated animal,and in people’s daily life,they guards their owner’s homes and farmlands and assisting their owners in grazing and inspecting in history.Because dog has gained people’s love and trust with its loyalty and integrity,so it has a very important position in people’s hearts and People’s love for dogs has never changed so far.For dog is the closest and popular animal to people in the traditional zodiac culture,adopting the dog culture to study the design of annual decoration plays an indispensable role in the development of annual decoration design in China.The subject of this paper is "the study of the decorative series design of dog year ".Starting with the image of the zodiac in the dog year culture and the image of the gods decorated in the traditional year and combining the modern decorative design concept,the decorative series works of dog year have been designed,and a new design concept has been created for the stereotyped traditional zodiac year culture in the market.Meanwhile,the zodiac dog and “year” culture are promoted through these works to achieve the purpose of carrying forward the traditional culture.On the basis of previous theoretical research,the author has collected some excellent zodiac dog design works under different times,among of which the anthropomorphic design of Leizhou stone dog designed by ancient people in Leizhou gives inspiration to the author,and the author attempts to personify the zodiac dog,and gives the image of the door god,the five blessing god,the Children-Sending Guanyin(a goddess in ancient Chinses myth)and the kitchen god to it.Thus it becomes the main body of this article,and all kinds of derivatives are designed on this basis.This paper uses literature research,descriptive study and investigation,the application and performance of zodiac culture in the decorative design is firstly expounded,and then the zodiac dog works under different age,style,era background and creation as well as their social values are analyzed to explore the inheritance and innovation in the decorative design art development of year of the dog.And finally the Chinese zodiac dog image artistic value is analyzed from decorative value and aesthetic value.In addition,based on the author’s own independent design of modern dog decoration series design work,the theoretical method of modern decorative series design of dog year is studied and discussed from these aspects: design philosophy,design inspiration,design style and design scheme.Zodiac culture has its unique cultural connotation and artistic features,and the dog decorative design series combines the modern decoration design and the zodiac dog culture,which not only can dig out the zodiac culture connotation,and clear the orientation of year of the dog decorative series in the market position,but can reflect the artistic and aesthetic feeling of modern decorative design,and create artistic works according with aesthetic style of modern decorative design.After discussing the application and performance of the Chinese Zodiac culture in the decorative design,describing the creative thought and creative process of the dog year decoration,this paper starts with the works display of the decorative design of dog year and the applicative part of the object,and these designs applies are analyzed from its color,exterior and style and so on.And it points out the advantages of the design and the expression of zodiac culture and year culture in these designs Finally,this paper summarizes the new design concept which is the combination of the traditional Chinese Zodiac dog culture and the modern decorative design,to make an useful theoretical discussion on the modern decorative series design of dog year.
