Chinese comics,born in the 1920 s and matured in the 1950 s,is a combination of graphic and literary works.Because of it's storytelling and readability,Chinese comics has a wide audience in the 20 th century.As an important reading material for teenagers,it has very important value for people's growth.The comics is not only a type of art acceptance,but also a medium formed by people's outlook on life,values,and world view.From 1966 to 1976,great changes have taken place in all aspects of Chinese society.The destruction of the social,economic,and cultural order in the “Cultural Revolution” destroyed the social trajectory which had a normal development before.This change has also affected the comic strip indirectly.Under the influence of hard-left politics,the "Cultural Revolution" comics has become a service tool for politics which judged by political standards.During the “Cultural Revolution”,almost all comic strips followed the stylized creative requirements such as “high-end atmospheric grade”,“red light” and “laying stress on three things ”.The result was that the “Cultural Revolution” comics had become the assistant of hard-left politics.Therefore it was endowed a unique visual symbol and distinctive features of the times which can not be “replicated.”Previous researches on comics mainly focused on the study of art history and art theories.So far,there are few results from the study of the “Cultural Revolution” comics which is often discussed from the perspective of art history,fine arts,and culture.Therefore,research on the “Cultural Revolution” comics from the perspective of art sociology has academic research value.This thesis mainly analyzes and explains the production,content,form and value of the “Cultural Revolution” comics from the perspective of art sociology and explores the relationship between art and society.The first part analyzes the the social background of the “Cultural Revolution” comics and the causes of comics from the political background which reviewed on the influence of society on art.The second part observes the reflection of art on society on four aspects:subject selection,theme expression,plot setting,and shaping of the main characters.The third part mainly analyzes the unique vision of the art language,art structure and artistic style of the “Cultural Revolution” comics.The conclusion part mainly discusses the social evaluation of art and analyzes the educational value,historical value,artistic value,and collection value of the “Cultural Revolution” comics and traces the historical rationality of its existence and the meaning given to the present.
