The “Qu Su” theory of the poetic theory of the Song Dynasty was proposed earlier by Mei Yichen, and it was strongly promoted by Su Shi,Huang Tingjian,Jiang Kui,Yan Yu and others, then it formed a flourishing situation and became a very important discourse in the poetry discourse of the Song Dynasty. As a climax in the traditional Chinese literary theory, its formation is not only a result of the continuous advancement of the “Qu Su” theory since the Han dynasty, but also a realistic demand for the reform of poetry creation in the Song Dynasty and the macro-political and cultural environment caused by the impact at that time.According to the song poet,“Qu Su” is not popular, but means the poetry text shallow, mediocrity, philistine tastes and poet's desire. In accordance with it,the connotation of “Qu Su” including five aspects, such as opposing “vulgar language”,“vulgar rhyme”,“vulgar meaning”,“vulgar style” and “vulgar poet”.Separately speaking, poetry critics in Song Dynasty advocate abandoning the slang words that are too superficial and unconventional and objected to using too risky and straightforward rhyme. They emphasized that the connotation of poetry should be novel and profound, and oppose writing too much vulgar and free contents or things into poetry.Besides, they also against too showy and humble poetic style and advocate implicit and elegant the poetic style. They combined the character with the grades of the poetry, and emphasized that the poet should have a high cultivation of spiritual realm and highlight the importance of people's quality in poetry. In view of the various "vulgar" diseases in poetry creation, the song poet think that there are three ways to solve it: one is “the old as the new,the vulgar as the elegant”,that is,adopting the cold allusions, idioms, chants, dialects, and colloquies abandoned by the Tang dynasty to cure the increasingly ugly and stereotypical words and deeds; The second is “thoroughly re-mould and turn iron into gold”,which means that one can achieve new changes and extensions of original intention through our own innovation on the basis of predecessors' poetry,so as to surpass the predecessors; The third is “perusal”,which means that by learning the ancients and accumulating knowledge to exercise skill,to treat the mind,so as to achieve an elegant realm. As a creative theory,“Qu Su” has a profound impact on the Poetics of Ming Dynasty and Qing Dynasty, and it also provides a useful reference for contemporary literary and artistic creation in China.
