Hongshan Culture Bird Pattern Jade Study

A total of 76 pieces of Hongshan culture bird grain jade were found,it is mainly distributed in the West Liaohe Basin and the Daling River Basin.Among them,20 were found in the West Liaohe River Basin,31 in the Daling River Basin,and 25 were found in other areas.And there are 29 units with clear unearthed units.Through published material analysis,according to the location of the Hongshan culture bird jade,it can be divided into the Nasitai type centered on the West Liaohe River Basin and the Niuheliang type centered on the Daling River Basin.The remains of the unearthed units are mainly the Niuheliang site,Hutougou site and Dongshanzui site in the Daling River Basin.The bird-grained jade mostly comes from large tombs and central tombs in these sites.The age of Hongshan culture bird jade is in the late period of Hongshan culture.The Niuheliang site was used as an example to analyze the relics of unearthed bird-pattern jade articles.It was found that bird-grained jade articles were mostly from the upper rock-mass stage of the Niuheliang site.Basic correspondence with the late period of Hongshan culture.At the same time,the relics of the bird-grained jade can be divided into three stages,which represent the three stages of the development of bird-grained jade.For the bird culture of Hongshan culture,the bird jade can be divided into three categories.They are realistic bird-like jade,semi-realistic bird-like jade,and abstract bird-like jade.Seen in the published 27 realistic bird-like jade articles,three semi-realistic bird-like jade articles,and 42 abstract bird-like jade articles.The abstract bird pattern jade can be divided into hook cloud pattern jade,bird and animal pattern jade and hook shape.The archetypal prototype of the Hongshan Culture Bird Pattern jade mainly originates from the raptors such as the crickets,and its appearance is also related to the custom of cultivating birds during the Hongshan culture period.The Hongshan culture bird-pattern jade mainly appeared in the Daling River Basin and West Liaohe River Basin dating from 5500-5000 years ago.From the analyses of clay claws unearthed in the goddess temple with ritual functions in the ruins of the Niuheliang site,the birds played an important role in the religious sacrifices at that time.The Hongshan Culture Birds Jade Emphasis on the claws,wings,eyes,and salamanders of the raptorial raptors that play a significant role in hunting,Combining the environment of these two basins,we can see that the ancestors of the late Hongshan culture used the raptors of the raptors as objects of worship,and it's strong hunting ability suited the methods of the industry at that time and was related to the local fishing and hunting economy.
