This paper focuses on Nova Scotia,one of the most representative maritime provinces in eastern Canada.There are four main approaches for the promotion and transmission of Chinese in the province:University Elective Chinese Course,Community Elective Chinese Course;Halifax Chinese Language School and Confucius Institute at Saint Mary’s University.the author used the opportunity of a volunteer Chinese teacher at the Confucius Institute at Saint Mary’s University in Nova Scotia,Canada.She visited and surveyed the current Chinese language situation,and conducted interviews with students and interviews with Chinese teachers.This paper is divided into seven chapters.Chapter one is the introduction and literature review,which mainly introduced the research background and significance of the paper,summarized domestic and foreign articles in analysis of Chinese teaching situation in Canada.Chapter two briefly introduced the research object and the research method used in this article,mainly questionnaire survey method,interview method and factor analysis method.The feasibility of factor analysis was verified by calculating the KMO value and Bartlett’s sphere test of the survey data.Chapter three focused on factor analysis method in statistics,which is used to analyze the original twenty meteorological variables of the experimental data,and then simplified the four factors and gave the interpretation of its naming.Through factor score calculation,the factor analysis model was obtained by the average temperature,which is convenient for the next chapter.Chapter four and five,as two key chapters of this paper,uses the survey methods of interviews and questionnaires,combined with the conclusions drawn in Chapter three,analyse the current Chinese teaching state in Nova Scotia from four different teaching units.Chapter six will give a comprehensive comment and suggestions on the overall Chinese teaching situation in Nova Scotia,and put forward the author’s opinions and suggestions based on her own teaching experiences in Nova Scotia.Chapter seven,consists the thinking of conclusions and deficiencies of this article.
