The Comparative Study Of Hu Shi And Yu Dafu's Biography Literature

Since the beginning of 20th century,Chinese biographical literature has come into being and developed from the contact,integration with western culture.Hu Shi and Yu Dafu were writers and scholars who accepted foreign influence earlier in this period.Both of them have shown deep concern for biographical literature,both of which have made outstanding contributions in both theoretical construction and creative practice.They push forward the modern transformation of Chinese biographical literature together.In the same era,they face the same background of the times,but they show great difference in the biographical literature concept and the creation of works.and the like.Hu Shi is good at historiography and philosophy research,and holds an empirical historical view.He's biographies a strong academic atmosphere,full historical materials,clear structure and great personality education function.Yu Dafu,on the other hand,is good at literary creation,identifies with the subject's view of history,and his biographical works are full of emotion and have a distinct tendency of"self',and replace "grand narration" with "personal narrative" to write history from the perspective and experience of the individual.Feel the history,the literary aesthetic function of the work highlights.Focusing on the literary attributes of biographies,and deliberately avoiding the historical mission and characteristics of biographical literature.From the background of the two times and contemporary biographical literature creation practice,The biographical literature writing centered on characters is liberated from the shackles of classical historiography,making it an independent and completely new art style which is obviously more suitable for the trend of the development of biographical literature.Through comparative study,the author intends to explore the similarities and differences between the two in the writing of biographical literature.The thesis is divided into the following four parts:The first chapter briefly describes the history of the development of biographical literature and the change and development of the historical view of the past and present are briefly narrated.The source of biographical literature can be traced back to the "history" itself,its evolution can be divided into:history?historical biography?Biography.The historical view attached to history is also evolving:the development of subjectival,positivist,romantic and so on.Followed by the analysis of differences between Hu Shi and Yu Dafu in the view of history.In the process of writing Biographies,Hu Shi uphold the empirical view of history,emphasising on the positivism of historical materials;Yu Dafu uphold the main view of history,the authenticity of the stressed emotion.The second chapter focuses on exploring the differences between Hu Shi and Yu Dafu in the narration of biographical literature.From the macro history and the background of the times,Hu Shi deducts the master of the biography as the spokesman of history-the master of the history is the speaker of history.It is a "model figure" who carries out "personality education",so that the content of the work is full of historical flavor.Yu Dafu,on the other hand,is good at personal narration from a micro perspective,and pays attention to the process of writing the transformation of the inner feelings of the master.In autobiography and his biography through the "self' figure,so the content of the work is full of literary flavor.In the third chapter,the author explores the structural differences between Hu Shi and Yu Dafu biographical literature.Taking their autobiographical works as an example,Hu Shi narrates the formation process of his "intellectual historian",and takes the influence of characters as the clue in the layout of the article.The influence of his father Hu Zhuan,Fan Zhen,Liang Qichao and Dewey on the formation of his thoughts is described respectively.The structure of the whole work is clear and specific.The main body in the autobiography is "poetic subject",and in the layout of the article,the structure of aesthetic psychology is taken as the clue,and the aesthetic feelings such as invisible love complex,transcendental love,human conscience and so on are taken as the clue.The change of psychology connects the whole work.His biography of both shows a principle of overall structure.In the purpose of transmission,Hu Shi emphasizes the memorial character,and Yu Dafu puts emphasis on the identity.Chapter 4th explains the common value of Hu Shi and Yu Dafu in promoting the modernization and transformation of Chinese biographical literature,although there are obvious differences in their viewpoints,contents and structures in the writing of biographical literature.But together they promoted the transformation of Chinese biographies from classical to modern.They inherited the historical biographical features of classical biographies,the function of historical review,and lyrical traditions,and at the same time,they innovated the artistic concept of biographical literature.Whether in terms of text value or historical value,the biographical literature theory and creation significance of both are great,which can not be ignored in the study of Chinese moderm and contemporary biographical literature.
