The Research About 18^th Army Logistic During The Battle Of Changdu In 1950

The logistics during the battle of Changdu is one of the most important factors that influenced the result of the battle,even the result of the peaceful settlement of the Tibet issue.It took 8 months to prepare the militant logistics.It started when the 18~thh Army of PLA received the mission of marching toward the Tibet,and ended when the traffic way from Ya’an to Ganzi has been finished.PLA had to postpone the launch time of the battle for twice time during the logistic preparing,it never happened during the PLA’s history.Based on former research results,this paper contains four parts:The first part will talk about the background of the battle of Changdu,that is,how the western countries such as U.K and U.S pulled strings from behind the scenes in order to make the Tibet to independent from China.Although the CPC and the Chinese government hope that the Tibet problem can be solved peacefully,but some outside reasons forced CPC and Chinese government to use some military options to help to achieve the goal of peaceful liberation of the Tibet.The second part will talk about the militant logistic during the battle,including that the mission should be undertaken by the Northwest Bureau or the Southwest Bureau,the choosing of the march line,the establishment of the professional headquarter of logistic supporting,and the struggle of Suppressing the Bandits.The third part of the paper will talk about some measures during the battle of Changdu.It is the core of the militant logistic during the battle of Changdu,which contains the guarantee about the transportation,supporting and equipments.This part will talk about the PLA’s action about collecting and transporting the materials.This is the biggest problem faced by PLA during the march.The forth part will make a conclusion about the militant logistic during the battle of Changdu:First,the well-run militant during the battle ensured the victory of the battle.Next,it gave PLA precious experience about the operation in highland areas.Meanwhile,PLA soldiers showed their hard-working spirit,and influenced deeply and widely about the formation of“the spirit of marching toward the Tibet”.
