| CaoWei,whose father was the founding litary commander,was born in a military family.Since he was young,he had been affected by the family environment and imbued by martial art,which influenced his entil life.Since he was 19,he entered the Northwest battlefield and last Emperor Taizong,Zhenzong and Renzong.He successively guarded the Qin,Wei,Huan,Qing,Fu,Yan,Zhenrong and other state of Shanxi Province.He has defended the Northwestern border for nearly 30 years and become an outstanding general in the Northwest Frontier defense in the early Song Dynasty.In the process of enacting the Northest Frontier,CaoWei formulated a policy that entrusting the ministries and controlling the XiXia together with Gusiluo.To effectively resisted the invasion of XiXia,He made some measures,such as building a walled city,dredging the trenches,recruiting soldiers and constructing Tuntian,ect.His series of border defence policies and measures are groundbreaking and predictable,and are mostly used in the border defence during the Middle and late Song Dynasty,which becam the basic strategy against XiXia.Therefore,the studying of CaoWei will provide us an excellent case to understanding the border defense policy in the early Song Dynasty.At the same time,through the studying,we can fing that in the ear of the prevalent disengagement policy and beatingswords into plowshares,the power of generals has been greatly weakened and restricted. |
