Russian-American writer Vladimir Nabokov, one of the most prominent novelists of world literature in the twentieth century, and also a literary critic and translator, was famous for his Lolita between 1960 s and 1970 s.But also was controversial because of his characteristic views in the field of literature. As a critic,Nabokov showed us a kind of nearly harsh, stubborn but distinctive critical views in the field of literary criticism. He also carried out them through literary classes during his coaching. The combination of artistic view with critical practices presents a genius side as a critic.Compared with his literary creation,Nabokov showed his literary and critical views more directly in the field of literary criticism. In his criticism,he presented a concept of “seeking beauty”,which not only demonstrated Nabokov's advocacy for pure art,but also emphasized the fit with the spirit of the work.In the practice of literary criticism,Nabokov made full use of his delicate and sensibility for literary art.He not only achieved the abstraction and generalization of literature by critics, but also realized the insight and creation on“aesthetic bliss” brought by literature.Nabokov's literary criticism also reveals the individualized critical purport of the subtlety of the poem and the intuition of science and his appreciation and preference for genius writers. The above points reflect some aspects of Nabokov's literary criticism as “Master's Criticism”,which not only inspires contemporary literary criticism and creation, but also makes aesthetic reflections on literature worthy of readers' reference. However,Nabokov's literary criticism is more particular about text skills, and sometimes it hides word games that are not easily accessible to readers. And he's not very good at systematically interpreting his own ideas, resulting in a vague expression, which also requires literary critics to take a lesson.
