A Study On The Relationship Between Emotional Labor, Communication Effectiveness And College Counselor-student Relationship | | Posted on:2019-11-16 | Degree:Master | Type:Thesis | | Country:China | Candidate:Y L Zhou | Full Text:PDF | | GTID:2405330545479930 | Subject:Applied Psychology | | Abstract/Summary: | PDF Full Text Request | | The theory of emotional labor has been paid much attention in the field of service and management since it was initiated.As the research is being further explored,emotional labor has been one of the most popular topics in Organization Behavior Science and Psychology of Management.In addition,Chinese party central committee attaches great importance to the ideological and political education work of college students,which makes their special significance of the positons of college counselors.It is important to improve the effectiveness at work and it is worth to be discussed by college counselor individuals and the whole college education system.The purpose of this study is to provide the theoretical support and suggestions based on the theory of emotional labor applied to college counselors’ daily work through an empirical research method,in order to help college counselors improve effective communication and keep a harmonious teacher-student relationship.It is highly valuable for practical purposes.This study is to investigate the interactions between the emotional labor,communication effectiveness and the teacher-student relationship,and to build up a cross-sectional prediction model of estimating multiple indicators associated with counselors’ emotional labor on the overall teacher-student relationship.The study collects the paired data from more than 100 instructors and 500 students in colleges and universities in Liaoning province using a modified standard survey questionnaire and analyzes the data using the software of SPSS and HLM.The conclusions are summarized as follows:(1)The emotion expression rules and deep acting strategies adopted by the counselors at work are significant positive predictors on the communication effectiveness and teacher-student relationship in the students’ perspective;(2)The surface acting strategy adopted by the counselor individuals has a significant negative effect on the effectiveness of communication and the relationship between teachers and students in the students’ perspective;(3)Communication effectiveness has a complete mediation effect between the emotional expression rules and the teacher-student relationship;(4)Communication effectiveness has a complete mediation effect between the surface acting strategies and the teacher-student relationship;(5)Communication effectiveness has a partial mediation effect between deep acting strategies and teacher-student relationship.This study not only enriches the application of the theory of emotional labor in the group of counselors,but also provides a reference to extend the research into other fields. | | Keywords/Search Tags: | college counselor, emotional labor, communication effectiveness, teacher-student relationship | PDF Full Text Request | Related items |
