As a material carrier of culture,mother tongue textbook undertake the mission of inheriting human culture.Compared with the teaching materials at the middle school level,the mother tongue textbook in primary school pay more attention to the cultivation of knowledge,rules,traditions,morality and values that students need and also society approve.Different countries attach importance to different aspects and their textbooks relatively choose different things.Although China and theUnited States have differences in ideology,economy,and so on,they have similarities in the diversity of their nationalities,which provides the possible conditions for us to learn from American native language textbooks.From the perspective of science of culture,this paper chooses Wonders published by McGraw-Hill Education in the United States as the study target.Using the content analysis method,the classification statistics method and the case study method,this paper mainly discusses around the following two questions:1?What culture is implied in this set of textbooks?2?How does the textbook reflect these cultures?The first chapter is the introduction part,which mainly introduces the origin of the problem,and defines the core concepts of "mother tongue teaching material" and "culture".In the part of literature review,the author combs and summarizes the literature on "cultural analysis of textbooks" and "presentation ways of cultural content in textbooks",and finally expounds the research ideas and methods of this article in detail.The second chapter mainly expounds the relationship between mother tongue teaching material and culture.On the one hand,mother tongue teaching material inherits national culture;on the other hand,mother tongue teaching material reflects the culture of the times.This chapter lays a theoretical foundation for the cultural analysis of later textbooks.The third chapter mainly introduces the content characteristics of the Wonders textbook and the presentation ways of the cultural content in the textbook.The study has found that this set of textbooks gives students a comprehensive understanding of the world from three different aspects:students themselves,society and nature,and that the content of textbooks is from shallow to deep.Through the statistical analysis of the genre of the text and the qualitative analysis of the cultural symbols in the textbook,the author has found that the presentation way of the cultural content of the textbook is diverse.The fourth chapter is a cultural analysis of the selection of Wonders textbooks.Through the establishment of a cultural analysis framework,the text themes of the article are classified and counted.From the statistical data,the author has found the cultural characteristics of the native language textbooks in the United States.The textbooks,in which the equal and free selections also account for a large proportion,mainly reflect the protection of students' curiosity and the cultivation of students'characteristics of scientific inquiry,cooperation and hard work.From the theoretical level,the fifth chapter mainly analyzes the educational value for students which comes form the intrinsic culture in the Wonders textbooks.The author has found that the potential educational value of this set of textbooks is reflected in three aspects:firstly,to let students learn to understand the relationship between man and nature;secondly,to let students learn to deal with the relationship between individual and society;thirdly,to understand the complexity of human nature.In comparison,there are great differences between Chinese and American mother tongue language teaching materials in terms of the presentation of cultural contents of textbooks,as well as the types and proportions of cultural connotations in textbooks.In China,the presentation way of the cultural content of the mother tongue textbook is relatively simple,and the cultural content has the problem of "moral generalization".Through the study of the intrinsic culture in the Wonders,this study obtains the enlightenment:the teaching material should correctly handle the relationship between humanities and science;the cultural presentation of the textbook should conform to the cognitive law of students;the textbook should correctly deal with the connection between students' current culture and social mainstream culture.
