Illustrations of primary school textbooks play an important role in Chinese education and traditional culture education.With the Chinese cultural power improvement now,more and more people want to learn Chinese in the world.The Chinese learning lead the global cultural trend.Popularizing Chinese and spreading Chinese traditional culture become to the most important purpose of China’ s overseas education.How to combine the Chinese textbook illustration design with Chinese traditional culture is the most important focus of this paper.First chapter of this paper start with introduce the Chinese education and analysis the current development of Chinese textbook.Then take the "cultural self-confidence"which put forward by president Xi Jinping at the 18th CPC National Congress as the dominant idea of the paper,and research the illustration demand of the textbook which compiled for Indonesia called "Kuai Le Hua Yu".In second chapter,I studied on three parts of textbook’ s illustration,such as color,form and composition.These studies can help me to choose cartoon style in scene design and let me know the general direction of my paper’s illustration design.In third chapter,I put forward my core point and innovation point,the Chinese cultural characteristics and Indonesia cultural characteristics combined with the textbook’s character and scene contents to draw illustrations with traditional culture element.In fourth chapter,I use pencil and Adobe software to design or draw the illustrations,and apply them to the series of happy Chinese.The final design results consist of twelve cover illustrations,some main scene illustrations and some content decoration illustrations,as well as the ebook which use to display the illustrations.
