The Song Dynasty is an important period for the development of Chinese Landscape painting,also is the heyday of geomancy.In order to fully understand the role of the geomancy philosophy in landscape painting of the Song Dynasty,based on the existing research,setting the most influential theory of Li qi and formalist as the starting point,landscape painting and geomancy philosophy of the Song Dynasty have been researched for comparative analysis.After the Five Dynasties,the Song Dynasty's landscape painting had developed more mature.The painters attached great attention to the in-depth observation of the natural landscapes as well as the expression of philosophical connotation in paintings.On the basis of the previous dynasties,the drawing skills were with more tremendous creativity.From the aesthetic viewpoint of the natural mountains and rivers,there are also some similarities between Song Dynasty's landscape painting and geomancy.Through the concepts of "Yin Yang","Five Elements and Five Colors",and " Qi" in the geomancy theory,this paper analyzes how the representative landscape paintings of the Song Dynasty to express the aesthetic pursuit of "Yin Yang" "Five Elements" and "Qi" by ink paintings.Through the comparative analysis of formalist's distribution map in Song Dynasty's landscape painting and geomancy theory,this paper summarizes the hidden geomancy philosophy in the landscape painting of Song Dynasty,such as the main structure,layout of painting and arrangement of actual situation,provides a new basis for the study of the geomancy philosophy in landscape painting of the Song Dynasty,also provides reference for drawing practice of the landscape painting of today.
