A Report On EC-translation Of A Video Game Entitled Guardians Of The Galaxy:The Telltale Series

The translation of game dialogues is growing rapidly in China in recent years,but there are few relevant researches on this topic.Obviously,this report is of much reference value.This thesis,which is a report on the translation of an English text into Chinese,makes a study of the translation of a video game entitled Guardians of the Galaxy.The author sorted out the problems she encountered while translating this video game.Obviously,there are numerous colloquial terms and phrases,as well as plenty of slang in the dialogues.And most of the scenes are described in simple phrases and short sentences.Clearly,the game dialogues are featured by the typical colloquial style.Under the guidance of such strategies as foreignization and domestication,and through analysis of many examples,the author proves the feasibility of some methods and techniques for translation of video game discourse,such as transliteration,literal translation,free translation,amplification,conversion and extension,from the word,sentence and text levels.The author also explains how these methods and techniques are used in the process of translation.Last but not least,the author summarizes the main ideas of the report and her major findings,relates relevant points for attention,and points out the deficiencies and further research aspects to be done.This translation report is intended not only to let readers get familiar with major language features of video game discourse and to help them enhance their translation skill,but also to provide reference for research on video game discourse.
