A Report On Chinese-English Translation Of History,Culture And Tourism Development Of Ningguta

The thesis is a translation report,which takes the third chapter of Innovation and Practice of Tourism Culture as the translation source text and explores the Chinese-English translation strategies of tourism texts.The source text makes a detailed description of Ningguta’s history,culture and tourism development and integrates historical value,literary flavor and public popularity.These features post great challenges for the translator,because the translator has to ensure the historical authenticity of the source text by transmitting the local culture faithfully as well as to achieve the acceptability of the target text for arousing the readers’interest.Theoretically,authenticity and acceptability should both be ensured,with primary consideration given to the former.In accordance with the specific circumstances,the translator believes a dynamic choice should be made between foreignization and domestication.Based on the dynamic choice of these two strategies,the translator adopts flexible translation methods:concerning the translation of place names and scenic spot names,the methods of transliteration,literal translation and transliteration plus literal translation are adopted;in term of the translation of culture-loaded words,transliteration with annotation,literal translation with annotation,omission and substitution are employed;division and restructuring are used to translate the long sentences.The experience and limitations of this translation practice are summarized in this report,which aims at providing references to the future translation of related materials so as to exhibit the unique glamour of Ningguta culture to the outside world.
