This project is an attempt to disseminate the pedagogical ideas about corrective feedback by translating an article authored by Rod Ellis: “Corrective Feedback and Teacher Development”.The article discusses the following questions:(1)whether corrective feedback contributes to second language acquisition;(2)what kind of errors need to be corrected;(3)who should correct the errors(teachers or learners themselves);4)what type of corrective feedback is most effective;and(5)the most appropriate time for error correction(immediate or delayed). In order to help the target readers better understand and accept the original information, the translator chose Newmark's semantic translation theory as well as communicative translation theory as the guiding theories, and strived to smoothly and accurately convey the information in the source text. This report is divided into four chapters. The first chapter introduces the source of the project and its significance, with a focal analysis of the linguistic and structural features of the original text. The second chapter describes the practical process, namely, how to prepare, how to translate and how to do the post-translation proofreading. The third chapter analyzes the translation strategies of words, sentences and discourse in detail. At the lexical level, the translation strategies of names, terminology and modal verbs are analyzed. At the sentential level, the translation strategies of nominalized structures, passive verbal sentences and parenthetical components are discussed. At the discoursal level, the reproduction of the style of the source text is illustrated.Chapter four summarizes what the translator learned from this translation practice and problems which need to be solved in future practice. The author hopes that this report will somewhat contribute to the dissemination of information about corrective feedback and teacher development, and that this report will also provide reference to translation practitioners.
