Translation discipline flourishes at present.However,along with it are some problems,one of which is the reform of translation teaching.When studying translation teaching,scholars mostly take the top-down approach to research from the perspectives of educators,colleges,translation companies and employers.Or,they have become so preoccupied with bits of fragmented information.However,students,as one of the most important parts of translation teaching,should influence or even guide the reform and development.Based on the above considerations,mixing with macro-and micro-analysis,the thesis sets out to find out exiting problems and expected reforms on translation teaching from the perspective of students,and on that basis,intends to enlighten all stakeholders and even force the teaching reform.The subjects of study are students in the Graduate School of Translation and Interpretation(GSTI)in Beijing Foreign Studies University(BFSU).The thesis is divided into five chapters including introduction,literature review,needs analysis,open-ended interviews,conclusion,suggestions and insufficiency.The survey found that,students of GSTI,BFSU rate their English proficiency lower than Chinese proficiency,and their input higher than output.Most students rate their writing competence as inadequate or poor.The respondents also need practical enhancement courses to improve their English or Chinese proficiency.The great majority of students believe that the current translation program does not perfectly reflect the market needs.They preferred practice-oriented courses to theoretical courses,and hope that the college can arrange time for practice and provide more platforms for students.Solutions were put forward from macro-and micro aspects,including creating international teaching mode,teaching students use the theory to guide practice,develop students’ vocational skills and etc. |
