| In Skopos theory,the highest translation rule of all types of translations is "the skopos rule",according to which the selection of translation methods is determined by the purpose of translation action.Skopos theory also includes the coherence rule and the fidelity rule.The fidelity rule must obey the skopos rule and the coherence rule first.Under the guidance of the three rules of Skopos theory,the translator translated a political-themed academic paper titled Culture,Institutions and Long-term Development:The Swedish Case and Implications for China.As a political academic paper,the source text has distinctive features at lexical,syntactic and textual levels.Given these features,the translator adopted some translation strategies to best reproduce the source text under the guidance of the three rules of Skopos theory.In the main part of this report,the translator discusses the strategies used in the translation,including nominalization structures,long sentences,passive structures,proper nouns and polysemous words. |
