Wiliam Butler Yeats is the tycoon figure in the arena of Anglo-Irish Modernism Literature,his poetic style is diverse and transformative,his image is glorious and mysterious,just as the miscellaneous universe.Yeats's Cultural Universe presented in his poem experienced the structural change though time.The "transformation of cultural structure" provides a new angle for the macroscopic research on Yeatsian poetry and poetics,furthermore it is a new summary to the multi-dimension of time and space demonstrated in Yeats's poetry.The concentration of this paper will environ two major components "Self" and "Nation" and their implication as well as the transformation of Cultural Universe presented in their interaction.The emphasis of the research is to analyze the different structures,characteristics and the nature of "Cultural Universe" during different periods in Yeats's life.The division of Yeats's life stages and poetry writing has attain the recognition from the academia,which are the early stage,the middle stage and the late stage.From longitudinal orientation the transformation of the structure in "Cultural Universe" is demonstrated in the counter-balanced relationship between "Self" and "Nation";while,from latitudinal orientation,the characteristic of "Cultural Universe" are collectively demonstrated in the magical imagination and immense sensibility.The grand structure and overall characteristic of"Cultural Universe" embodies in Wiliam Butler Yeats's comprehensive experiences of life and panorama of poetry.The general features of "Cultural Universe" could be concluded in the convergence of personal world and national destiny,of personal feelings and national spirits,of personal belief and national culture.The connotation of "Cultural Universe" lies not in the stiff scientific definition,for poetry as the purist and most liberal genre in literature is never destined to be confined and regulated by limited and unchangeable rules and theories.Thus,"Cultural Universe" is more of the a symbolic summarization from the perspective of arts and aesthetics.Sublime and open as poetry has always been,its aim is to cultivate and enrich spiritual life and artistic taste,so that one can excel under the inspiration from great minds.
